The public comment period for the proposed Morgan Falls bicycle/pedestrian bridge and connecting trails has been extended to May 27, 2009. The NPS seeks written comments from the public to develop alternatives for consideration, and to assess the level of support or opposition to the bridge and connecting trails. Concepts that were discussed at the April 30 public scoping meeting include a "No Action" alternative (i.e. no bridge), a pedestrian-only bridge and trails, a bicycle/pedestrian bridge and multi-use connecting trails, adaptive use of the dam itself as a bridge, or other variations which could include bicycle access on a multi-use trail paralleling the river to Johnson Ferry Road, but pedestrian only access on the old farm road from the river to Hyde Road.
