Please see the attached .pdf and review and to pass it on. As someone who does not know much about horses, this is good information.
While this particular flyer pertains to the SCT, it can apply to everywhere cyclists go where they may encounter horses and riders across the USA. Quick story from a horse rider aka "Equestrian":
"I had a cyclist who took his and my life into his own hands by coming RIGHT up the butt of my horse on the right while going over that steel/concrete Rail Road Track bridge. I had nowhere to move to because I had another cyclist heading straight at me on the left!!!! Both gentleman are very lucky I have a well-trained mare because any other horse would have jumped toward the thing that scared them and one of them would have gone over the side to their certain death.
I know that most folks don’t know about horses, how they react, what could happen, etc., so perhaps this can be a Teaching Tool so we avoid accidents….so much better to learn the easy way, than the hard way!"
Thanks,
Joe
